Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American performer and rapper, releasing sly tracks that tackled issues such as racial and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Before expanding to Hollywood, she was able to release a number of songs. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants within Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was via trumpet. In the following years, she took up hip-hop and classical training. When she was in high the school, she focused on the field of journalism as well as women's studies. She was also a student of Mandarin during a time in Beijing. She turned her attention to music once she finished her studies. Her track My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a popular viral sensation across the Internet and later appeared on her first LP Yellow Ranger. On the album, there also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$1. The latter song was linked directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. After a successful career as a singer and songwriter, she chose to assume the role of actor. Alongside early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films like Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a number of breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she released her first film In Fina We Trust.
